Congratulations to Professors Chelsea Finn, Dorsa Sadigh, and Mary Wootters! They were all selected to receive this year’s Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). This is the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers.

The PECASE award recognizes innovative and far-reaching developments in science and technology, expands awareness of careers in science and engineering, recognizes the scientific missions of participating agencies, enhances connections between research and impacts on society, and highlights the importance of science and technology for our nation’s future.

  • Chelsea’s research interests lie in enabling robots and other agents to develop broadly intelligent behavior through learning and interaction.
  • Dorsa’s research is at the intersection of robotics and machine learning; to develop robot learning algorithms that learn from humans and adapt to them.
  • Mary’s research interests include error correcting codes and randomized algorithms for dealing with high dimensional data.

Please join us in congratulating them on their outstanding research, and being recognized by this award.
