Doctoral students enrolled in a related department at Stanford may apply to pursue the MS in Electrical Engineering to complement their PhD program. This application process is referred to as the Graduate Program Authorization Petition (Grad Auth).
Application Timeline & Deadlines
|First Quarter of Enrollment||Application Period|
|Winter 2019-2020||Mid-September - October 22, 2019|
|Spring 2019-2020||November 12, 2019 - January 21, 2020|

All applications for a particular quarter are reviewed shortly after the corresponding application deadline (no rolling admissions). Please allow up to 4 weeks after the application deadline to receive notification of the admission decision via email.
To apply through the Grad Auth process, applicants to our department must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Stanford PhD program in a related field (e.g., engineering, physical sciences, or mathematics).
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of two (2) full-time quarters (excluding summer) of technical coursework at Stanford before applying to the EE-MS program. For example, if you entered Stanford in autumn quarter, the earliest term for which you can apply is spring quarter of that academic year.
Stanford students enrolled in a master's program outside the department must apply through the annual general admissions process in order to add or transfer to the EE-MS program. They are not eligible to apply via the Grad Auth.
