Bob Dutton receives the 2025 IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal
His citation reads, 'For contributions to and leadership in developing Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD) tools for the semiconductor industry.'
Professor Bob Dutton received the 2025 IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal, for outstanding contributions to material and device science and technology, including practical application. His citation is 'For contributions to and leadership in developing Technology Computer-Aided Design (TCAD) tools for the semiconductor industry.'
Bob is is the Robert and Barbara Kleist Professor of Electrical Engineering, Emeritus. His research interests include the process of integrated circuits fabrication, and circuit and device design and technology. Bob's research combined fabricating requirements with material sensitivities. Bob's team developed software to characterize the various permutations. The software resulting from his research; SUPREM, (Stanford University Process Engineering Models) and PISCES (Poisson and Continuity Equation Solver), were adopted by industry. He also founded Technology Modeling Associates (TMA), the first Technology CAD company.
Please join us in congratulating Bob on receiving the IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa Medal!
