Allen-X 3rd Floor (Tom-HP) Printer Install - WINDOWS

Connecting to Allen-X 3rd Floor HP Color LaserJet M553 Printer (Tom-HP) - Windows Computer

  1. In the Search bar, type printers & scanners <Enter>
  2. Click Add a printer or scanner
  3. Click “The printer that I want isn’t listed” link
  4. Select “Add a printer using an IP address or hostname”, make sure Device type is IPP Device, and enter ipps://ee-printing.stanford.edu:631/printers/Tom-HP
  5. Click Next
  6. When the Add Printer Wizard pops up, select the manufacturer of the printer (HP) and then the driver of the printer (HP Color LaserJet M553) on the right

  8. The direct download is https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL60613/lj-145740-5/HP_Color_LJ_Ent_M553_PCL-6_Win8_Plus_Print_Driver_no_Installer-19231_1.exe for the drivers needed.
    1. Download HP LaserJet M553 V4 PCL-6 Print Driver (no installer) either via the direct link or web page above
    2. Open the zip file and extract the universal driver taking note of the location the files are extracted to
    3. In the search bar type "add a printer" and open up the settings to add a printer
    4. Click on the plus icon to add a printer
    5. Scroll to "add a printer that wasn't listed
    6. Select “Select a shared printer by name” and enter http://ee-printing.stanford.edu:631/printers/Tom-HP
    7. Select the "Have Disk" in the dialog box and browse to the location noted in step b and select "OK"
    8. Choose the M553 driver and select "OK"
    9.  Print a test page if desired
  9. Click OK
  10. Done
