From designing more efficient, informed, and trustworthy algorithms to using those algorithms in cars, robots, hospitals, classrooms, and more, Stanford researchers are helping advance artificial intelligence across nearly every domain of life.

Staying at the forefront of this revolution requires not just technical expertise but collaboration across disciplines. At Stanford, engineers, scientists, humanists, sociologists, artists, and medical researchers work together to envision and develop AI that is not merely powerful but also principled.

“AI has enormous potential to accelerate discovery and innovation, and it will reshape education,” said President Jon Levin. “Stanford can make a critical contribution to every aspect of that, and we are committed to playing a leadership role.”

To support this work, throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, Stanford has expanded its infrastructure, boosted computing capacity, and convened new symposiums, committees, and conversations to shape the future of AI.
