Abstract: Annapurna Labs, an Amazon company, has led the silicon innovation in cloud computing since 2011 spanning multiple areas: I/O, datacenter infrastructure, core compute, and machine learning. In this talk, we will detail our process and the decisions we have made to bring the pace of software to hardware development. Our process starts with working backward from the customers and how we could bring real benefits to customers’ use cases. We will show that our process allows us to navigate technical and strategic decisions at AWS velocity and bring multiple products to the marketplace quickly.

Bio: Nafea Bshara is the Vice President and Distinguished Engineer at Amazon Web Services and a cofounder of Annapurna Labs, an Amazon company that develops the server chips and produces $5 billion annual revenue. Nafea co-founded Annapurna Labs in 2011. Prior to that, he was the VP technology of Marvell via its acquisition of Galileo Technologies.
