Talk Abstract: In this talk, we’ll explore the intricate intersection of Gen AI and creative rights. The rise of AI-generated content heightens the urgency of correctly attributing and tracking the origins of creative works. State-of-the-art technologies like Sureel.ai play a crucial role in this evolving landscape, providing tools for accurate attribution and traceability for both licensed and open-source data. We’ll also broaden our focus to understand Gen AI’s wider impact across various creative fields. Our discussion will consider the reshaping of authorship and intellectual property concepts, informed by recent legal cases and artist movements. This comprehensive conversation aims to shed light on the present challenges and emerging solutions that aim to harmonize innovation with ethical and legal frameworks.

Speaker Biography: Tamay received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Munich in 2019, where he was honored with the Nokia Bell Lab’s Best Student Award and the Kurt-Fischer Doctorate Award. He was selected for the Junior Research Group Program at the Max Planck Center for Visual Computing and Communication at Stanford University, becoming the youngest visiting assistant professor since 2002, and led the Visual Computing and Artificial Intelligence group at the Max-Planck Institute. His work includes significant contributions to peer-reviewed publications. In 2020, Tamay co-founded CareX.ai as CTO. He served on the AI Subcommittee at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute from 2021 to 2022 and was CTO at Snowcrash, where he spearheaded a team in building an AI/Blockchain tech platform vetted by Sony Music, Universal Studios, and NatGeo (Disney). In 2022, he founded Sureel Inc., a company at the cutting edge of explainable AI technology, marked by four patents pending.
