About the talk: It has become popular to make the claim that computer engineering is about to lose its excitement because “we have reached the end of Moore’s law”. In the latest version of this talk Dave will explain why he believes that although some of the technological trends that have sustained computer engineering for decades are flattening, this doesn’t mean all is lost. It just means the wheel of reinvention has come full circle and a new phase has begun; one where (at least for a little while) the architects are one again in charge.

About the speaker: Dave Conroy is an old-school electrical engineer and an Apple Fellow who has worked on many of Apple’s major programs early in their development. Before that he was a Technical Director at WebTV Networks where he worked on a wide variety of TV-related consumer products. And before that, he was a Senior Consulting Engineer at the Digital Equipment Corporation where he worked on a wide variety of semiconductors and systems, both a member of product engineering and of corporate research.
