Abstract: Three separate worldsheet computations illustrate string theoretic aspects of AdS3/CFT2 duality: (1) Hawking radiation of winding strings; (2) BPS fivebrane “stars” near the black hole threshold; and (3) orbifolds describing black hole formation from colliding BPS conical defects. We will discuss as many of these topics as time permits.
