Abstract:  A primary goal in understanding healthy tissues and dysregulation that leads to disease is to build and query cell and tissue atlases. However, the definition of an "atlas" in the context of tissues is unclear, and the methods to broadly build these atlases using available data do not exist. In this presentation, I will describe two methods essential to build, label, and query cell and tissue atlases, and show how they have been used for atlas building. I will end with challenges and essential methods left to build to broadly allow these atlases to be created and used.
