Industry Nights Speaker Series

We are excited to kick off our speaker series with Mauritz Kop, the executive director of the Stanford Center for Responsible Quantum Technology at Stanford Law School.

Have you ever wondered when a company will make quantum computing become relevant in our everyday lives? Have you ever wondered what quantum computers can realistically solve in our future? Have you ever wondered what a career in quantum computing looks like in the industry? Maybe, you've even wondered about how to become an entrepreneur in the space of quantum computing.

If so, attend our Industry Nights Speaker Series! Every week, we will have a speaker from the quantum industry come give a talk on their company and their efforts to engineer the future and realize the impact of quantum computing in the world. In addition, if you are looking for internships, this is a great networking opportunity to meet experienced researchers in the quantum industry!

Bio: Mauritz Kop is the Founder and Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Responsible Quantum Technology, and a Stanford Law School TTLF Fellow at Stanford University. Mauritz’ interdisciplinary academic work on regulating AI, machine learning training data, intellectual property, and the suite of quantum technologies has been published by Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, Springer Nature, and Nature Physics scholarly and peer reviewed journals.

Promoting good governance, Mauritz helps nations across the world to develop Responsible Quantum Technology and Innovation strategies. Over the past years, he provided policy recommendations to the European Commission during the codification of the Artificial Intelligence Act, the Data Governance Act and the Data Act, and delivered copyright expertise to the European Parliament during the EU Copyright Directive legislative process. At the other side of the Atlantic, Mauritz advised US Senators about Regulating Artificial Intelligence, and Regulating Quantum Technology.

Mauritz is author of over 100 scholarly articles, book chapters and blogs about ethical, legal, socio-economic and policy implications of exponential, disruptive innovation in industrial sectors, and is a frequently asked international conference speaker on topics in the nexus of AI, Quantum and Law.
