Abstract / Description: 

Mobile phones have numerous optical sensors today. This presentation will describe the types of optical sensors used in phones and their applications. Use cases started with detecting ambient light, then proximity, gesture and heart rate.


The REU Seminar Series is an educational and developmental opportunity for REU participants. Attendance at the seminars is r equired for all REU interns. Speakers will discuss their research or work, provide educational and career advice, and share their knowledge with you. There will be a questions and answers period at the end of each talk. A light breakfast will be provided before each seminar.
