Workshop in Biostatistics presents "Inequality in criminal justice and healthcare"

Topic:
Inequality in criminal justice and healthcare
Thursday, November 14, 2019 - 1:30pm
Venue:
Medical School Office Building (MSOB), Rm x303
Speaker:
Emma Pierson (Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science at Stanford)
Abstract / Description:

Knee osteoarthritis is one of the most common causes of disabling pain in older adults. Black patients with knee osteoarthritis experience more pain, as do other disadvantaged groups, even when controlling for clinician-assessed disease severity. We use a machine-learning approach to explore why this occurs.
