Interdigital's Innovation Challenge

Andrea Goldsmith, Alexandros Manolakos, and Yair Noam have won 3rd place in Interdigital's Innovation Challenge. The prize was awarded for their blind null space learning algorithm, which blindly determines the spatial dimensions in which different MIMO radios can operate without any interference between them. The algorithm can be used to significant improve spectral efficiency in cellular systems, WiFi networks, and cognitive radio networks. Interdigital's Innovation Challenge is open to participants from any North American university; it annually awards $175,000 in prizes for innovation in wireless technology.
