Each candidate for a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering is assigned to a faculty member of the Department who will serve as academic program adviser. The student is expected to consult with the adviser at least once per quarter, and the adviser is expected to help in program planning, specific course selection and to act as a mentor to the student. The adviser's signature is required on the [[w:M.S.|M.S.] program proposal. Typically the adviser is expected to be qualified to give career advice and to prepare job references for the student.
While assignment of advisers is based on matches of mutual interests, it is recognized that these interests change and thus re-assignments are made on request, subject to availability of time of the prospective adviser. Listed on the next page are those faculty members serving as graduate advisers for MSEE candidates for 2007-2008. Research supervision of Engineer and Ph.D. candidates is provided by all the Faculty and a list of the EE Faculty with their areas of research interests appears later.
