The department annually awards a limited number of fellowships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships to incoming graduate students. To be considered for department assistance as an entering student, applicants must indicate their funding preference on the supplemental form in the online application. With the exception of applying for student loans, it is not necessary to submit a financial aid application. Notification regarding most types of financial assistance is sent to recipients in March. Because not all entering EE students secure funding as they begin their graduate studies at Stanford, prospective students are encouraged to apply for outside sources of funding.
